Historical Interest Rates
This graph shows how average interest rates on 30 year fixed rate loans
varied between 2004 and 2008. Note that loans for investors a typically
1% or so higher than the homeowner rates shown below. Origination
points used for the plotted data ranged between 0.4 and 0.7%.
30yr fixed rate mortgages started in the first quarter of 2008 at around
5.75% per annum. Currently these loan rates are attractive matching
2004-2005 levels. Low interest rates like these may not last long.
